Who’s your craft crush? I’m here to admit that I’m a little obsessed with Rashida. Not only did she design Washi, my current favorite fabric collection but she just curated this gorgeous book, Zakka Style: 24 Projects Stitched with Ease to Give, Use & Enjoy. Rashida Coleman Hale invited 24 of her favorite designers to each bring you one of their most loved projects—including quilts, softies, pillows, decorative items, and bags. Swoon!
But what is “Zakka,” you ask? Rashida defines it in the introduction of her book:
Zakka has been loosely translated from Japanese to mean “miscellaneous goods,” “many things,” or “sundries.” It has grown to mean a style that embodies a kind of simple charm and uniqueness—something handmade that is useful, yet pleasing. Zakka has evolved into a design style that has become popular all over the world.

Want to win a copy? Read on to learn more about this drool-worthy book and how to enter.

As with all of the Design Collective titles, Zakka Style focuses on the advanced beginner sewist who does not need a lot of the basic sewing instructions, but wants to dive right into the projects. By streamlining the instructions this way, they can pack in more projects for you to make and enjoy into each book, but still give you all of the step-by-step instructions you will need to be successful.
So whether you enjoy embroidery, appliqué, patchwork, or a little bit of everything, you are sure to find something to inspire you in this brand new book.
And now for the giveaway – one lucky reader will win a copy of Zakka Style! To enter to win, leave a comment here telling us your craft crush anytime between now and midnight PDT April 17th. Maybe the bohemian Anna Maria? Classic Martha? Vintage Elsie? No extra credit for picking me or Jaime. Ha! So spill it! U + ? 4EVR

Ooooh have been looking at this book longingly for a few weeks now. Currently having a soft animal craft thing going on – spurred on by my 5 yr old , but really wanting to make some fabric baskets.

I have a huge, schoolgirl-style crafty crush on Dana from ‘made’. The things she makes are so lovely: the fabric choices! The use of yellow and white! Those adorable children! There. I feel better for having got it out.
[Reply]
Martha all the way for me…. Oh, and all of the super crafty women I have chanced upon on the WWW. Seriously, I dont know how we crafted before the internet, though truth be known I spend a *bit* too much time “researching” rather than crafting! Nonetheless, it is super fun!

I have a little crush (read: I want to live in your world) on Lotta Jansdotter, makes me wish I had a more craft-tastic name too!!!

I have a serious (and very unfortunate) craft craft crush on Heather Ross’ Mendocino line. Sigh.

I’m in love with the gals over at sewsweetpatterns.blogspot.com! I love their simple, but adorable sewing patters that I can whip up in a day.

As a dad I go for a little more of the “manlier” type crafting. With that said I have been reading a lot of stuff at http://ana-white.com/ Does that count? I especially like the projects that I can do with my 3 yr old daughter.

I have to admit I grew up smitten with Martha. I’d watch her every chance I got, and to this day I love the clever things she comes up with, so, of the professionals, she’s my shining star
My real craft crush though, is my daughter, Vanessa. She’s only eleven, but she already designs patterns for her own clothes. They’re a bit, rough, and, she’s still a bit inexperienced, but she comes up with combinations and ideas I never would.
She loves oragami, and she organizes everything with an ease I envy. She’s creative, and loves to make projects for people, telling me that it’s the best way she can think of to let people know she loves them, or that they’re special.
She’s an amazing kid, and, will always be my craft hero
[Reply]
I like design mom for kid things, this blog, and about 30 others. I’m an old grammi and I am amazed what young women are doing out there. It’s great!

[Reply]
I follow too many craft blogs to pick one… so I’m going to have to crush on a ‘thing’ and say Pinterest. Because without it, I may have never returned to my crafty ways.
[Reply]
For my first real foray into sewing, I used Lotta Jansdotter’s book “Simple Sewing.” While my finished products are not quite as neat as Lotta’s, that book taught me so much. Lotta will always have a very special place in my heart!
[Reply]
Anna Maria Horner’s bold use of color and pattern. I’m generally drawn to neutrals and solids but she has has inspired me to branch out in new ways.
[Reply]
I’d have to say Heather Ross..such dreamy fabrics!
[Reply]
I love the styles of a blogger named Rae of Made by Rae. They are simple enough I can manage them while caring for my very independent almost walking babe and they are pretty too. Designs for me and the babe and the house make me happy

My craft crush is crazy quilting. I just inherited some crazy quilt blocks from the 30′s and 40′s that are unfinished, from my grandmother. They have been basted to muslin and cut to size. I now have to do the embroidery and then sew them together. I am very excited to get it done.
[Reply]

[Reply]
My craft crush is Angela Walters — her quilting is amazadoodling and I love how much she cares about each quilt she works on.
Thanks for the chance to win!
[Reply]
I need to spend more time reading up, I didn’t realize Rashida did the Washi, I just picked up some Squiggles from fabricworm a couple of days ago. SO much to learn, I’ve actually gotten a much better grasp of who is who in the fabric world this weekend via extensive shopping and browsing, but apparently I have a long way to go.
My fabric crush is Anna Maria Horner, since I saw a quilt with her fabrics on the Stitched in color blog. It was what made me switch my efforts from making clothing to household goods. I’ve since then made my own version of the quilt, and ordered some of her Innocent Crush Woodcut yesterday…that goes with nothing in my house. I know I have it bad when I’m ordering fabric I have no use for…
thank you for the giveaway!
[Reply]
My latest craft crush is Christine Mason Miller and transforming art to inspirations!!!

[Reply]
I am a huge Amy Butler fan. I love her fabrics most and her patterns are so functional and cute. Thanks for a great giveaway!
[Reply]
I don’t have a crush on a person. I get most of myy inspiration when I am shopping. I won’t buy something if I know I can make it for way less. If I never get around to making it I know I didn’t really need it.
[Reply]
My crush is a concept rather than a person. It’s the challenge format of Project Quilting. You’re given an inspiration concept and can make pretty much whatever you choose and it must be completed in a week. I did 5 challenges and could tell that I learned something from each one. And a couple of my projects are things that I now love and might not have made otherwise.

I really have a craft crush on Dana form “Made”. She is so exuberant in her crafts and they make our home more colorful. I feel comfortable reading her posts and following her crafts. I have made almost everything she has posted, even in the archives. Not stalking, just an avid follower. I haven’t been able to craft often since I had to leave the “mommy-hood” to return to teaching, so this book would fill my summer with delicious things to ponder and create. Thanks for the chance!

It’s hard to choose, but I guess i’d go for Martha, it’s because of her I found my way back to quilting!

My craft crush right now is still Martha Stewart! After over 20 years as a MSL subscriber, I still get great ideas from her!

My craft crush is my mom too – she might question my taste, but the techniques I’ve learned are all thanks to her.

I am new to the craft-blog world… no specific crush yet but I already have a huge addiction! Would love this book!!

Aah…so hard to choose! Lotta Jansdotter or Jess from craftinessisnotoptional.com or Jill from homemadebyjill.com or you guys of course! I am Dutch and in The Netherlands we don’t have a lot of good craft blogs (or at least I haven’t found them yet) so I am really happy with all these great crafters/bloggers from all over the world.

I am smitten with everything Anna Maria does (of course!) and I’m also loving Eithne Farry’s cool, boho, up cycling style in her book ‘Lovely things to make for girls of slender means’ She rocks!

I don’t have a crush, there are so many crafts persons out there, Maureen @ Maureen Cracknell Handmade, Jenna @ Sew Happy Geek, Sunni @ Love Affair with my Brother, Renee’ @ Sewn With Grace, and so many others I can’t pick just one.

It hurts my brain to even try to choose from soooo many! I honestly love ‘em all! Allow me to demonstrate my string of thoughts: Make It Perfect’s slumber party jammies AND the uptown jackets, the fabric used to make this apron (http://www.themotherhuddle.com/tutorial-pleated-apron-with-built-in-hot-pads/comment-page-2/#comments), and the apron of course, then we have the fabric used to make this viewfinder holder (http://liberatecreativity.com/2011/06/01/viewmaster-pouch/), then there’s Oliver + S, and then.. and then.. I should stop now… See my dilemma?

I do heart Martha, but lately, as I am trying to self-teach sewing, I’ve been super excited by different gals I have found on the web that have both great tutorials and inspiring ideas, especially for the kiddos. That is how I found and fell in love with you!

I have a major craft crush on Alicia Paulson. She’s a local blogger who is amazing! rosielittlethings.blogspot.com

Amy Butler is my favorite, this week lol. I like her style. But I also like Pinterest. If I get bored working on a project I just hop on there and wham!! I get my mojo back. So many beautiful fabrics and ideas. I want to make it all but unfortunately my skill doesn’t match my enthusiasm.

It’s such a hard question, there are just so many inspiring people and projects. If it is to be related to my dream of one day combining illustration and fabric, I have a big crush on Sarah Jane, Heather Ross and Patty Sloniger. As for clever crafty ideas – Michele Pacey @Michele made me is one of my favourite.

Not really sure yet. I’m still new to all of this sewing and crafting funness. I love the vintage look, and the style of fabrics that are shown on this post are awesome. Mostly I find my stash of fabric at yard sales and Goodwill, but do occasionally purchase something. Although I’m never sure what brand it is.
