I love making pecan pies in the fall. I use my grandfather’s recipe and of course you have to make the crust from scratch. It is one thing I get the most requests for during the fall. Any potluck, Thanksgiving or Christmas feast isn’t complete without my Pepaw’s pecan pie!

I’ve been making lots of apple tarts ~ basically just a one-crust apple pie, and I mix up the spices. Sometimes lots of cinammon, sometimes a stronger hint of clove or ginger. I can just use a few apples and, depending on how much time I have, I can arrange them nicely or just toss them in and gather up the crust.
