A while back, Jaime and I appeared on PBS’s It’s Sew Easy and shared a super simple fleece hooded poncho project. Since it’s getting brisk outside I’m excited to stitch up a few more for my favorite girls and boys. The best part is all the creative fun you can have adding trim and embellishment to make each poncho an original. Watch the video, as seen on It’s Sew Easy, to see how we made the poncho and then incorporated ribbon, pom-poms, bias tape, suede fringe and embroidery accents.
Head on over to the It’s Sew Easy website for many more fabulous sewing projects and showtime information.

what do you think is the largest size you could squeeze out with a single yard? my math brain isn’t working, and i am having trouble figuring how to calculate the max possible wing span less the need to save a rectangle for the hood.
i’d like to do a batch for the cousins/nieces for holiday gifts.

depends on the width. I’d try one out and take it from here.

I love this! If you embellish the hood with ribbon as above (or something else where you’re not enclosing the edge as you would with bias tape), do you hem the hood under? It looks like it, but I can’t quite tell what you did there – these will be my little girl holiday gifts! Thanks!

hi Sarah- Yes, if I remember correctly, I just hemmed it under about 1″.

Love it! Gah I love your American accents! I know you’re in the US but it blows my mind everytime I hear a bloggers accent!
P.S. I’m in Australia, probably should’ve mentioned that sooner, bit random otherwise :/

I made one yesterday for my 3 year old and the ratio of effort to cuteness can’t be beat – so easy – thank you!!
