Keep the clutter to a minimum with a beautiful DIY Upcycled Desk Organizer. This project starts off in the pantry, and turns a few tins from this,
to this,
and finally to this…
I am absolutely in love with it and am having the hardest time just deciding where I want to put it. That’s also kind of the beauty about it though – you can easily transport this anywhere without the tins sliding around. Use it to organize your desk, craft supplies, the kids’ school supplies, and any other clutter you might find. Grab a few old tins and I’ll show you how easy it is to make!
Learn how to make the DIY Upcycled Desk Organizer after the jump…
Start by digging in your pantry for tins. Avoid using tin cans with sharp edges as they can definitely cause some damage when you’re reaching for supplies.
Pick out a piece of wood, or other preferred material, to use as the base for your organizer. I got this wood plaque from Michaels and have been waiting for the perfect time to use it.
Peel the labels off your tins. Goo Gone does wonders with getting the leftover, sticky, glue residue off.
Position where you want your tins to go when they are finally glued down.
Prime your tin cans so that the paint will adhere easily. I used a spray paint primer, which made it very easy to coat all of them in no time at all.
Pick out your colors and start spray painting them. I suggest you put on a sturdy pair of latex gloves because this can get messy.
Use E6000® Craft Adhesive to adhere the cans to the base.
Now, let the organizing begin. I highly recommend saving one of the tins for beautiful flowers. It makes it that much prettier. We’d love to see what you fill your DIY Upcycled Desk Organizer with. Share a photo with us on our Facebook, Twitter, or Pinterest Page.
